Abstract Pistacia lentiscus L. is an evergreen shrub belonging to the Anacardiaceae family, cultivated exclusively in southern area of Chios Island. Mastic gum as a unique natural resin tree has been used extensively functional foods and traditional medicine. The biological properties resins may be influenced by different chemical constituents. Herein present work aimed further explore diverse triterpenoids mastic, evaluate their anti-inflammatory activity. Two undescribed polypodane-type bicyclic were isolated from resins, structures elucidated using ultraviolet, infrared, high resolution electrospray ionization mass spectroscopy (HRESIMS), nuclear magnetic resonance data. LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 macrophages incubated with various concentrations compounds, results showed that compounds 1 2 inhibited nitric oxide production LPS-induced cells IC 50 values 28.1 32.6 µM, respectively.

Two rare new chiratane-type triterpenoids, kouitchenoids A and B (1, 2), together with oleanolic acid (3) and ursolic acid (4), were isolated from ethanol extract of Swertia kouitchensis. The new structures were determined by the analysis of MS and NMR data. In addition, compounds 1-4 showed moderate inhibitory activity against the α-glucosidase (with IC₅₀ values ranging from 1,812 to 2,027 μM).
